Dr Michael Rumsewicz has a strong appreciation of the interface between research institutions and fire and land management services, or end-users of the research.
Dr Michael Rumsewicz is well known to NHRA as the former Research Director of the Bushfire and Natural Hazards Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) from 2013 to 2017, and former editor-in chief of the Australian Journal of Emergency Management.
Michael has over thirty years of international experience, including over nine years of collaborating with the fire and emergency sector, mostly working at the interface between research institutions, industry and government. Since 2013 he has engaged heavily with fire and land management services, including engagement with end-users of fire simulators.
His experience includes developing national research directions and leading national research programs, building diverse teams across industry, government and academia, focusing on the needs of partners and end users, taking research through to solutions and into practice, and identifying and delivering opportunities for research organisations.
